Pedestrian Critically Injured By Drunk Driver In Queens
A 30-year-old man was critically injured after being struck by a drunk driver in Queens on Saturday, September 2nd. The man was walking on the Long Island-bound side of the Belt Parkway when he was struck by the driver of a Subaru around 3 a.m.
Emergency responders took the victim to Jamaica Hospital, where he was listed in critical condition. The driver of the vehicle stayed at the scene and told police that the victim had darted in front of his car. He was arrested for drunk driving.
6 Injured After SUV Reverses Into Staten Island Laundromat
Six people were injured when the driver of an SUV accidentally reversed into a Staten Island laundromat on Sunday, September 3rd. Three of the victims suffered serious injuries, while the three others were minorly injured in the accident. One of those injured was a pregnant woman.
The injury victims were rushed to Staten Island University North for treatment of their injuries.
No criminal charges have been filed in the accident. The owner of the laundromat claims that his business suffered over $20,000 in damages related to the crash.
Woman Sues NYC After Being Hit By Falling Branch
An Upper East Side woman has sued the city for injuries she suffered after being struck by a falling tree branch in Central Park. The lawsuit claims that the woman suffered fractured ribs and injuries to her head, left elbow, right knee, and right foot. The accident occurred in July of 2016.
Photos included with court papers show a large, leafy branch blocking a wide pathway in the park. The city’s Law Department is currently reviewing the complaint.
According to the NY Daily News, 31 people were injured by falling trees or branches throughout NYC in 2015.
6 Pedestrians Injured When Car Jumps Curb In Brooklyn
A 23-year-old man has been charged with DWI after he allegedly jumped a curb in his car and crashed into several pedestrians in Brooklyn around 5 a.m. on Monday, September 4th. Nearby surveillance cameras captured the entire accident on video.
At least 20 pedestrians were on the sidewalk when the car jumped the curb. Four of the six injury victims were directly hit by the car. Police found the driver a few blocks away from the crash and arrested and charged him with DWI.
